CCTV News: On February 21, the Market Supervision Administration of Dongfang City, Hainan, released a report on the situation of online complaints about disorderly conduct by mobile vendors outside the Dongfang Seafood Market.
Recently, the Dongfang City Market Supervision Administration received reports from netizens that mobile vendors outside the Dongfang Seafood Market have been using “ghost scales” to underweight goods, engaging in price fraud, false pricing, ambiguous pricing, additional charges outside the listed price, product swapping, and exchanging dead seafood for live seafood, all suspected of infringing on consumer rights. In response, the Dongfang City Market Supervision Administration attached great importance, responded quickly, and the following is the announcement:
The Dongfang City Market Supervision Administration immediately organized law enforcement personnel to conduct investigations, and attempted to contact the video poster to understand in detail the specific situation encountered, characteristics of the involved vendors, and key information such as time and location. They also arranged for duty personnel during the Spring Festival to cooperate with the Municipal Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau for a special on-site inspection of the seafood market and surrounding areas on the morning of February 21. The focus was on checking whether measuring instruments are accurate, whether there are cheating functions, whether there is price fraud, unclear pricing, inflated pricing, and whether illegal activities such as product swapping and substandard goods are involved during operation.
Meanwhile, the Dongfang City Market Supervision Administration will take this incident as a lesson, and starting immediately, will carry out a special rectification campaign to regulate seafood market order. The measures include: 1. Increasing patrol frequency and supervision in areas with concentrated mobile vendors; 2. Severely cracking down on illegal activities such as using unqualified measuring devices, underweight goods, price fraud, unclear pricing, adulteration, and consumer fraud. Once verified, penalties will be imposed according to law and severity; 3. Urging market operators to fulfill their main responsibilities and strengthen management of vendors entering the market.
