According to CCTV News, on the 10th, the President of Kyrgyzstan signed a decree to dismiss Vice Prime Minister and Chairman of the State Security Committee Tashiev. Kyrgyz President’s Press Secretary Alagozov told the media that this decision was made in the interest of the country, “aiming to prevent social division—including divisions within government agencies—and to promote unity.” On the same day, Zaparov also signed a decree appointing Shabdanbekov, Deputy Chairman of the State Security Committee, as acting chairman of the committee, and dismissed First Deputy Chairman Avazov and two other deputy chairmen. Tashiev is 58 years old and previously served as Minister of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan.
