On the 10th, it was reported that the world’s first “Sea Wind Direct Connection” underwater data center has recently been put into operation in Shanghai. The project is led by Shanghai Hailan Cloud Technology Co., Ltd., in collaboration with multiple units. It is the world’s first underwater data center to achieve “offshore wind power direct connection + seawater natural cooling,” marking a significant breakthrough for China in the integration of artificial intelligence infrastructure, marine energy utilization, and marine engineering. The total investment in this underwater data center project is 1.6 billion yuan (RMB), with a total construction capacity of 24 megawatts, planned to be built in two phases. The first phase demonstration project has a construction capacity of 2.3 megawatts. The main structure of the offshore platform is 32 meters high and weighs 1,950 tons. The core part of the project, the data warehouse, is located inside a cylindrical vertical structure directly inserted into the sea. (China News Service)
