Manatee County Commissioners have approved a 14-year extension to Mosaic’s Master Mining Plan for its Four Corners Mine, a decision reached after a relatively uneventful hearing. The extension, which will allow mining until 2044 and reclamation until 2055, is expected to bring benefits such as reduced trucking traffic and expedited reclamation in certain areas. Despite some opposition due to environmental concerns, the commissioners voted 5-2 in favor, recognizing Mosaic’s economic contributions and commitments to accelerated land reclamation.
