Aave core contributor BGD Labs announced that their service agreement with Aave DAO will not be renewed after it expires on April 1, 2026, and they will cease contributions. BGD has led or participated in the development of Aave v3, governance, and security-related infrastructure over the past 4 years, but due to organizational direction and governance environment changes, they have decided to end the collaboration. They stated that they will complete existing work and hand over responsibilities before the expiration date, and also proposed providing a 2-month transition period of security support for community governance to decide.
