Can't go back to my hometown anymore. Is the stock market the way out for ordinary people?

I spend most of my time outside and only go back home during the New Year. Usually, I stay in my hometown, where most of the residents are elderly, while many of the young people who originally lived in the village have moved to the city.

To be honest, rural people are not as simple and kind-hearted as the internet often portrays. Some people around me have low levels of awareness, love to argue, and can quibble over trivial matters for a long time. I have personally seen neighbors neglect their elderly parents, and after their biological father passed away, the stepmother was driven out of the house. Incidents like these are countless.

If it weren’t for the country’s health insurance and pension policies, life for many elderly people would be even harder. Although these are efforts made by the government and are far from enough, I still want to give them a thumbs up. However, the system is running too fast, and many people haven’t truly benefited from the development. The idea of “common prosperity” now sometimes sounds like a joke.

That said, compared to the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China era, today’s Chinese people have become more confident, and their sense of pride and happiness has reached an unprecedented level.

Speaking of this, I increasingly hope to become wealthier in the second half of my life through financial management and asset appreciation. For someone like me, an ordinary person, the stock market might be the last opportunity and the least to be missed.

In A-shares, most retail investors chase gains and sell on dips. But in fact, you can also seek high returns by buying stocks and catching hot spots; or you can allocate broad-based index funds or industry ETFs to steadily outperform the market. There are many strategies: dividend strategies, free cash flow strategies, small-cap rotation, convertible bond plays, bank stock rotations, and more. As long as you believe in the power of time and compound interest, ordinary people can ultimately reap abundant rewards.
