On February 18th local time, Tesla (TSLA.US) CEO Elon Musk posted on the social platform X announcing that Tesla’s first Cybertruck has officially rolled off the production line at the Texas Gigafactory in the United States. Musk congratulated the Tesla team on successfully manufacturing the first mass-produced Cybertruck.
In late December 2015, Musk stated on X that Tesla was testing the Cybertruck production system, with actual mass production expected to begin in April.
In January of this year, Musk provided production expectations for the Cybertruck model set to be produced at the Texas Gigafactory in Austin. The Cybertruck is designed specifically for Tesla’s autonomous driving platform and Robotaxi ride-hailing service, with production expected to start in less than 100 days.
Musk emphasized that to meet the company’s expectations for autonomous driving technology, the development of Cybertruck production and autonomous driving must progress simultaneously. The Cybertruck is expected to be without a steering wheel or pedals, featuring only two seats and a screen to enable fully autonomous driving.
Musk expressed cautious optimism about the initial production phase, noting that the early production speed will be very slow but will eventually accelerate significantly. He mentioned that for both the Cybertruck and Optimus, nearly all components are new, so early production will be very slow, but ultimately very fast.
Tesla plans to produce several million Cybertrucks annually. Musk has previously stated that the goal is to produce at least 2 million Cybertrucks per year, potentially reaching 4 million in the future.
