The European Commission has decided to send representatives to attend the so-called "Peace Committee" meeting, which has been strongly opposed by multiple EU countries.
On February 18th local time, several EU countries including France, Belgium, Spain, Ireland, Slovenia, and Portugal expressed strong dissatisfaction with the European Commission’s decision to send representatives to attend the so-called “Peace Committee” meeting. On the 16th, the European Commission decided to send Mediterranean Affairs Commissioner Dubravka Šuica to participate in the first formal meeting of the so-called “Peace Committee” scheduled to be held in Washington on the 19th. Multiple EU countries pointed out that this decision was made without prior notification to the member states, lacked necessary authorization, and could be interpreted as the EU’s collective endorsement of the meeting.
