It's not that there's no sense of the New Year anymore; it's just that family conditions have improved. When I was young, my family was poor, and our daily meals were just plain vegetables with rice or family members working in different places, so we could only see each other once in a while. Now, we basically have fish and meat at every meal. Family members who are close are all living in the same area, so we can see each other anytime. Maybe that's why it's not as rare or special anymore.
