KYC and Mainnet Migration Update: Unlocking More Pioneer Users and Exploring New Certification Methods

btc—ETh—pi
Pi has released a technical update enabling millions of pioneer users to complete mainnet migration! In the coming weeks, another update will be launched to remove barriers for hundreds of thousands of pioneer users submitting KYC applications.
Pi will also introduce a fingerprint authentication feature in testing, which is expected to help the system handle more live detection, account verification, and other tasks. Meanwhile, the distribution of rewards for KYC verifiers is steadily progressing, with deployment expected to be completed by the end of March 2026.
These updates not only allow more pioneers to participate in the mainnet ecosystem but also further strengthen Pi’s two major advantages: 1) community size and 2) fully verified mainnet blockchain.
Pi currently has 16 million pioneer users who have migrated to the mainnet, making Pi a massive identity verification blockchain.
Millions of Pioneer Users Approved for Mainnet Migration
Nearly 2.5 million pioneer users who were previously blocked due to additional security and compliance checks in certain regions can now fully migrate to the mainnet!
For users who meet the unlocking conditions of this update, if they actively participate in mining and have completed the mainnet checklist, the system will automatically migrate their transferable balance.
Why are some migrations or KYC processes being unlocked in batches? Different batches of pioneer users are stuck in migration or KYC processes due to various special circumstances, such as requiring additional review, assessment, and determination of their provisional KYC status, or account security measures before migration. Each special case requires a customized technical solution to resolve the uncertain status of affected accounts, ensuring that as many legitimate pioneer users as possible can pass through the process while catching bad actors or policy violators. Once such tailored technical solutions are completed and released, the affected group of pioneer users can be unrestricted. Therefore, unlike the ongoing KYC and migration processes for most pioneer users, the pace of unlocking restrictions for these special cases depends on the release of these technical solutions.
Over 700,000 pioneer users will soon be able to submit KYC applications.
In the coming weeks, more than 700,000 pioneer users who previously did not qualify will be able to submit KYC applications, while the network continues to process their accounts to ensure the integrity of large-scale mainnet migration. As processing continues, these unrestricted pioneer users’ applications may require additional review to confirm their compliance with KYC requirements.
After the update is released, if you were previously blocked due to KYC issues, please open the Pi app and check if you can continue with KYC verification. Submitting KYC as soon as possible will help your account proceed smoothly with subsequent steps.
Exploring Fingerprint Authentication for Further Identity Verification in KYC
Pi will test the fingerprint authentication feature in a beta version to explore its potential applications within the network. This additional verification method focuses on confirming user identity while providing different privacy protections, as it does not require face recognition. For pioneer users who already need multiple facial live detections or identity reviews, fingerprint authentication can serve as part of a broader authentication and security process.
Potential future applications include identity verification for account recovery and protection, password resets, two-factor authentication, and other security-related use cases.
The beta feature will be rolled out to some pioneer users of Pi KYC for initial testing and further evaluation.
KYC Verifier Rewards Distribution Plan to be Implemented in Q1 2026
The rewards distribution work for verifiers is progressing steadily as planned. The final design has been finalized, implementation is complete, and testing is underway. Testing is crucial because it directly impacts the distribution of Pi rewards, which will be awarded to verifiers involved in millions of Pioneer KYC processes. Our goal remains to complete deployment by the end of this quarter (March 2026).
As mentioned earlier, the initial distribution of verifier rewards requires extensive work to evaluate and analyze the massive amount of KYC verification task data accumulated since 2021. The reasons for such a large workload include:
- Task data volume: hundreds of millions of verification tasks at various stages
- Complexity of task data: variations in task types, results, and quality, as well as tasks performed during different stages of KYC processing (beta, testing, onboarding, and scaling phases)
- Fairness in reward distribution design and funding sources
- Scalability of system architecture to distribute these rewards to current millions of verifiers and support future reward cycles
- Calculation accuracy and security of distributing these rewards on the mainnet blockchain
These updates reflect our ongoing efforts to expand participation in KYC and mainnet migration, aiming to involve more users in Pi’s ecosystem. If needed, please complete the required KYC and mainnet migration steps and become a KYC verifier to contribute to the KYC process in your country or region.

How is it possible to have 16 million mappings? If it's just fake, then it's not genuine.
