An exchange is shutting down its NFT marketplace Nifty Gateway to focus on building a one-stop super app for customers.
The digital art platform has entered withdrawal-only mode and will cease operations on February 23. Customers with USD, ETH, or NFT assets will receive notifications via email with instructions on how to transfer their assets.
Nifty Gateway is a pioneer platform in the NFT space, hosting exclusive NFT releases from top digital artists, musicians, and brands such as Beeple, CryptoKitties, and Pak.
“Nifty Gateway was launched in 2020 with the vision to revolutionize digital art,” the team stated in a declaration. “We are proud of the work the Nifty team has done and thank Nifty Gateway’s customers and artists for accompanying us on this journey.”
An exchange acquired Nifty Gateway at the end of 2019, marking its entry into the NFT space. In early 2023, founders Duncan and Griffin Cock Foster left the company amid declining NFT trading volumes.
The exchange stated it will continue to support NFTs through its wallet, which will be launched by August 2025.

Another NFT platform has collapsed. It's really hard to do art trading these days.
Gemini still has to rely on trading to make a living. The super app strategy sounds grand, but... why does it feel like they want to do everything but end up doing nothing well?
Following the fate of super apps, let's see how long they can last.
Nifty is down, and those NFT holders still inside need to withdraw quickly.
Another excuse for strategic adjustment, but actually it's because the NFT market has no future.
This is the crypto world. The trending opportunities of this year will become relics next year.

Another NFT marketplace has shut down, but this time it's a voluntary closure... Can this super app logic work? Feels like it's all a gamble.
