On January 4, Zhao stated the crypto market remains tiny while technology potential is huge and mostly unrealized. He called the current state “just the beginning” of blockchain adoption. Zhao co-leads YZi Labs, a $10 billion family office created from rebranding a major exchange’s venture arm in January 2025. Co-founder Yi He partners with Zhao to operate the investment vehicle focused on longer-term, higher-impact opportunities beyond traditional venture capital models. The firm expanded its mandate beyond Web3 to actively invest in artificial intelligence and biotechnology alongside blockchain infrastructure.

YZi’s first major public investment committed $16 million to Sign, a platform simplifying token distribution and on-chain credential verification. Zhao framed this around foundational infrastructure needs as more users move on-chain.

Subsequent investments include Vana for AI and data ownership convergence, Plume Network for real-world asset tokenization, Aster for decentralized perpetual exchange trading, Opinion for prediction markets, and Blueprint Finance for DeFi infrastructure.

Zhao maintains extreme portfolio concentration with 98.48% allocated to BNB and only 1.32% to Bitcoin. This weighting aligns his personal interests entirely with BNB Chain’s success trajectory.

Education Initiative and Government Advisory Roles Expand Influence

Giggle Academy provides free K-12 education covering traditional subjects plus finance, blockchain, AI, and entrepreneurship to children in developing countries. The initiative uses a GIGGLE meme token where transaction fees directly fund educational programs recorded on-chain for transparency. The project raised $1.3 million and serves over 88,000 students as of late 2025.

Zhao advises multiple governments on digital asset strategy. Pakistan appointed him strategic advisor to its Crypto Council in April 2024. Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov named Zhao an official advisor on digital assets and blockchain development in May 2025.
