First time involving leveraged ETFs, I directly went three times short on FIL and ended up losing everything. Soon after, I tried three times short on ETH on another platform, also ending in a poor outcome. These two trades dealt a significant blow to my asset allocation at the time. It seems that my understanding of market direction prediction and risk control still has a long way to go.

According to research, the problems here are far more than just risk control—technically, triple leverage in a market with volatility exceeding 20% is essentially gambling. Data shows that the vast majority of retail investors have a negative expectation with this tool. It is recommended to read about the Kelly criterion before using it.
