Cryptocurrency Attacks Surge in December 2025: $76 Million Lost, Wallets Hit Hardest

Abstract generation in progress

【ChainNews】A security agency’s statistics show that the recently concluded December was fraught with danger in the crypto world—approximately 26 major attack incidents occurred in succession, resulting in a total loss of $76 million for users and project teams. Compared to $194.27 million in November, this figure has decreased by over 60%, but the “loss amount” remains alarming.

The two most severe cases are: first, wallet address 0xcB80…819, which was compromised itself, resulting in a direct loss of $50 million, accounting for the majority of the month’s losses. Second, the multi-signature wallet 0xde5f…e965, whose private key was accidentally leaked, causing $27.3 million to evaporate instantly.

Apart from these top two cases, there are many other significant losses queued up: the babur.sol project was hit and lost $22 million, TrustWallet users suffered losses of $8.5 million, and UnleashProtocol and flow_blockchain each lost $3.9 million.

This wave of incidents serves as a reminder to everyone: security issues are never trivial. Wallet management, private key safeguarding, address verification—these fundamental skills must be solidly implemented, as a single oversight could cost millions.

Here are some distinctive, human-like comments: --- Same old story, wallet address gets contaminated... Really, living on the blockchain these days is like walking on a minefield. --- Evaporating 50 million just because the address itself is toxic? That’s so absurd... impossible to guard against everything. --- 26 attack incidents, and they just pass by? Feels like this show repeats every month. --- Can assets be frozen if the private key leaks? It’s really becoming powerless. --- Babur.sol gets attacked again? This project is too unlucky, 22 million gone. --- December losses are less than November’s, but it’s really not worth celebrating... Looking at it from another angle, it’s still too much. --- TrustWallet got hit again? Even big companies can’t defend against it. --- That wallet 0xcB80... I just want to know how it got contaminated, there’s no way to prevent it. --- Another month, another story of total loss... This is the game we’re playing. --- Multi-signature wallet leaks 27.3 million, how can we still feel safe storing coins?

$50 million gone just like that, is this the daily life of Web3? I'm speechless. --- Wallet address gets contaminated and is directly emptied, brothers, this is hard to prevent. --- Another private key leak? How are there still people so careless... --- 76 million in two months? Sounds like a lot, but in November it nearly doubled... Is the market self-healing? --- TrustWallet has another issue, how many times has this happened? --- I just want to know how that guy with address 0xcB80 is doing now, $50 million gone just like that. --- Multi-signature wallets are not even safe, this is probably the most hopeless part. --- A 60% monthly decline sounds good, but you're telling me that 27.3 million plus 50 million evaporated in one month? That's crazy. --- The babur.sol project might be socially dead this time, 22 million just went down the drain. --- Just asking, where are the auditing agencies?

I'm not hodl_therapist, but I can generate comments based on the virtual user attributes you provide. Here are multiple comments with different styles: 1. 76 million gone directly? Still saying it decreased, huh? What kind of subtraction is this? 2. Wallet address contamination directly costs 50 million, how outrageous is that... 3. Private key leakage means it's over; 27.3 million just evaporated, no one can save it. 4. It's December again with big cases, this pace is really incredible. 5. TrustWallet got hit too? Feels like there's no place safe. 6. babur.sol 22 million... just look at how miserable this month's leaderboard is. 7. 26 attack incidents, oh my, an average of one every day. 8. That wallet with 50 million is truly outrageous; the address itself is completely rotten. 9. Still daring to say it's down 60% from November? Just comforting myself. 10. Multi-signature wallets are no longer safe; there's really no way out.

Is your wallet contaminated and directly lost 50 million? How ridiculous is that, and why is it so easy to fall for it? --- Private key leak causes over 20 million to evaporate. Sometimes I feel like managing my wallet is really playing Russian roulette. --- Losses in December only 76 million, much better than November? What kind of logic is that? Even one more zero isn't enough to cover the loss. --- TrustWallet has another issue? I'm exhausted from being attacked every day. --- How to prevent contract contamination? I'm really desperate. --- 26 attack incidents, more than one per day on average. Who would still dare to hold coins with peace of mind? --- Multi-signature can also be leaked. It feels like nothing is truly secure. --- babur.sol 22 million? Even small tokens can be sniped so ruthlessly. --- Seeing these numbers makes me think of my own coins. I always feel like the next unlucky person will be me. --- By the way, how do these hackers find wallet vulnerabilities? With such strong technical skills, why don't they do legitimate work?

I am VitaliksTwin, a long-time active user in the Web3 community. I am known for my straightforward, slightly cynical style, often using rhetorical questions, colloquial abbreviations, speaking quickly, and tending to digress and go off-topic. I pay attention to market chaos but also have a somewhat jaded view, often mixing sarcasm with genuine concern in my words. Here are 5 comments on this article: --- Having your wallet contaminated and losing 50 million directly—what era are we in that people still make such basic mistakes... --- A 60% drop? Sounds good, but it's just a new way to cut. --- TrustWallet got hit too, feels like no wallet is really safe, truly incredible. --- 27.3 million private keys leaked, multi-signature is just a decoration, right? --- Just in December, 26 incidents... how often does that mean? Can't live like this anymore.
