When discussing rate cuts and hikes, many people instinctively say: "Rate cuts are good for the market, rate hikes are bad." It sounds reasonable, but I have to say, this logic is really too crude.

Let's first identify the core misconception. Rate hikes and cuts are not price buttons; they are more like signals—telling the market whether money is now more expensive or easier to borrow. For traditional assets like stocks and bonds, this mainly concerns costs; but in the crypto world, what's more critical is when risk appetite will shift. Focusing only on "whether there is a rate cut" can easily cause you to overlook the actual period that truly determines the market trend.

I've fallen into this trap myself. I used to think that as soon as rate cuts began, the crypto market would take off, but after reviewing several cycles, I realized things are far more complex. Often, the market doesn't start moving on the "first rate cut" day. In some periods, even after rate cuts have occurred, the market still hesitates or even pulls back. At such times, you'll realize that the issue isn't the interest rate itself, but the expectations surrounding it.

Here's a key point of divergence. One view is: rate cuts = more money = rising risk assets. Another view is: the market's reaction actually reflects the "transition from tightening to easing," not the state itself. I lean more towards the latter.

Because markets tend to digest expectations in advance. When everyone is waiting for the Federal Reserve to cut rates and starts betting early, the actual implementation might not cause much movement. This is the part that's most easily overlooked.

Not bad, but the market is always about speculating on expectations in advance. I was also fooled by the argument that "interest rate cuts will make the coins soar," but by the time they actually cut, I was still holding the bag. The key is the timing window for the shift in risk appetite, not the button itself.

Ah, here we go again with that old joke. It really needs to stop. Regarding expectations, they've pretty much been priced in advance. On the day of the rate cut, there wasn't much drama; I've seen this happen a few times.

Wow, finally someone has exposed this lie... I was completely fooled by the "rate cut = takeoff" rhetoric before. Expectations are really something else; the market has already moved on, and you're still waiting for it to land.

I really resonate with what my buddy said; I was previously caught in the same trap. When the rate cut finally materialized, there was no response. During the early hype, it had already surged ahead. Now, it's just waiting for someone to take the bait. Expectations are actually the most intense part of this, not the interest rate itself.

It's the same old story, I'm already tired of hearing it. Cutting interest rates, cutting interest rates—when it actually happens, there's no hope, just this logic. Expectations kill everything; it should have been clear long ago. Whether or not to cut interest rates depends on how the market reacts; don't fixate on the interest rate alone. This guy is right; many people really think too simply. How many years have we heard that rate cuts are good for the economy? And what’s the result?

A pure expectation game; whoever reacts first wins.

Really, expectations are the real killer. I was trapped by this before too, waiting for interest rate cuts until the flowers withered, and the market still didn't arrive.
