Recently, a friend reached out to me late at night, sounding a bit overwhelmed: I put 10,000 USDT full margin with 50x leverage, and just a 3% pullback caused a liquidation. What the heck?

Looking at his trading record—bet everything with 9,500 USDT in one shot, no stop-loss set. This is a classic example of the all-in operation mistake.

Many people treat full margin as a sign of courage and strength, but in reality, it’s the most dangerous trading approach. The real culprit behind liquidation is not leverage itself, but losing control of the position.

To give a specific number: with a 1,000 USDT account, using 900 USDT to open a 10x position, a 5% adverse move will wipe it out; with the same 10x leverage, but only 100 USDT, it takes a 50% drop to be liquidated. The same leverage multiple, but position size determines your survival line.

My friend is putting 95% of his principal into one trade, then adding 10x leverage. When the market moves slightly, he closes immediately—no chance to react.

**Three Iron Rules of Position Management**

**Single position should not exceed 20% of total funds** — For a 10,000 USDT account, no more than 2,000 USDT per trade. Even if it loses 10%, only 200 USDT is gone, the principal remains intact, and there’s hope to turn things around.

**Limit single-loss to within 3% of total capital** — For example, with a 2,000 USDT position, set stop-loss at 1.5%, risking about 300 USDT. A few consecutive mistakes won’t drain your energy.

**Stay out of choppy markets** — Only trade clear trend breakouts. Once you open a position, hold steady and never add to the position chasing the rally.

A true full-margin strategy should leave room for volatility, not gamble your entire net worth at once. Light positions with trial and error, combined with strict stop-loss, are the right approach for long-term stable profits.

One of my followers used to blow up his account every month, but after following this method, he managed to grow his 5,000 USDT to 8,000 USDT in just three months. His insight is: full margin isn’t about risking your life; it’s about surviving longer.
