Vermilion Energy Reduces Coelacanth Position: Stakes Drop From 20.7% To 15% Via $22.8M Divestment

Vermilion Energy Inc. (VET, VET.TO) has significantly trimmed its investment in Coelacanth Energy Inc., marking a notable shift in the company’s portfolio positioning. The energy firm executed a strategic divestment, offloading 30 million common shares at $0.76 per share, generating $22.80 million in proceeds. This transaction represents a disposal of over 2% of Coelacanth’s total issued and outstanding shares.

The stake reduction reflects a material change in Vermilion’s ownership structure within the portfolio company. Prior to this transaction, Vermilion maintained a substantial position, controlling approximately 110.18 million common shares of Coelacanth, which corresponded to a 20.7% ownership stake. Following the share sale, Vermilion’s holdings now comprise 80.18 million common shares, reducing its overall stake to 15.0% of the company’s issued and outstanding capital.

This divestment suggests a rebalancing of Vermilion’s strategic holdings, potentially reflecting evolving investment priorities or capital reallocation decisions within the energy sector.
