BlockBeats message, April 2, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian local time on April 2 published an open letter to the American people on the X platform, criticizing that the United States’ military actions against Iran are essentially acting as Israel’s “proxy,” and questioning whether the “America First” policy truly serves the national interests of the United States.
In the letter, Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran has “no hostility” toward the American people, and said that portraying Iran as a threat neither fits history nor reality. He stated that Iran has never initiated war, and that its military actions are “lawful self-defense.”
On historical issues, Pezeshkian mentioned the 1953 Iranian coup, saying the incident led to an interruption of Iran’s democratic process and intensified Iranian society’s distrust of the United States; he also criticized the United States’ long-term sanctions and its policy of supporting Saddam Hussein during the Iran-Iraq War.
Pezeshkian also accused the United States of its recent attacks on Iran’s critical infrastructure as “constituting war crimes,” and warned that the related actions would increase regional instability and raise global economic and security risks.
In the letter, he repeatedly named Israel, saying it seeks to divert international attention from the issue of Palestine by creating an “Iranian threat,” and is trying to “make the United States fight to the last soldier and run out the last dollar.”
Pezeshkian called on the American people to examine the sources of information behind current policies, reassess their understanding of Iran, and warned that continued confrontation will have far-reaching effects on the coming generations.
