Crypto Finance CEO: Traditional Banks Lag Behind Crypto-Native Platforms by Approximately 5 Years in DeFi Innovation

Gate News reports that on March 25, Stijn Vander Straeten, CEO of Crypto Finance, a subsidiary of Deutsche Börse, stated that traditional banks are at least about five years behind crypto-native platforms in DeFi innovation. He pointed out that large institutions usually wait for regulatory frameworks to be clarified before entering the market, so full adoption of DeFi by banks may still take 5 to 10 years. Vander Straeten emphasized that crypto platforms already offer features like weekend trading and instant settlement, whereas traditional financial systems are still limited by outdated infrastructure such as T+2 settlement.
