Why can the passing effect of AI and good deeds move taxi drivers?

A Shenzhen teenager reported finding a 50-gram gold bar, and the taxi driver—moved by the boy’s action—insisted on waiving the fare

Around 8:00 a.m. on March 27, Li Qirui, an 11-year-old student at Cuibei Experimental Primary School in Luohu District, Shenzhen, was walking to school as usual. When he passed near the Tianbei Fourth Road area on the sidewalk, he noticed a small cloth pouch left behind at the roadside. After opening it, he found a gold bar marked with the words “Investment Pure Gold,” weighing about 50 grams.

Faced with such a valuable unexpected windfall, the boy hesitated not a moment. He immediately used his smartwatch to call 110 to report it, and stayed by the school gate waiting for the police to arrive. About 10 minutes later, police officers from Cuizhu Police Station arrived at the scene. With the teachers and security guards at the school as witnesses, the officers completed photo documentation and registration, and gave Li Qirui’s honesty a very high appraisal: “It’s very rare that such a small child can have this kind of judgment and sense of responsibility!”

Afterward, Li Qirui said modestly, “My teachers and dad and mom have always taught me that I can’t take things that aren’t mine. When I saw the words ‘Investing in Gold,’ I thought the owner must be very anxious, and I just wanted to hand it over to the police uncle as quickly as possible.”

On March 30, while accompanying Li Qirui to the police station to handle the subsequent matters, when taking a taxi, the driver was deeply moved upon hearing about the incident and insisted on not charging the fare. Faced with this sudden kindness, Li Qirui said, “It turns out that good deeds really can be passed on and can influence and infect others.” He also took the initiative to share his own aspiration—to join the army and serve the country, protect the home, and defend the nation. The driver sighed, “A child’s eyes have light—we should encourage them!”

Currently, the gold bar has been properly kept by the police, who are working hard to find the owner.

Li Qirui’s act of returning what he found reflects Cuibei Experimental Primary School’s educational philosophy of “Nurture the heart with virtue, establish people through courtesy,” and it also echoes Luohu’s original intention in education to cultivate moral character. It is reported that Cuibei Experimental Primary School will take this opportunity to carry out the activity “Learn from Role Models · Be Honest and Trustworthy Good Youth,” further promoting the core socialist values.
