According to reports, British Airways plans to introduce a fuel-saving incentive program for pilots starting next year, hoping to reduce fuel consumption. Its main proposal is that if all pilots can meet the target of reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 60k tons compared with the 2025 level, they will be eligible for a bonus equivalent to 1% of their base salary. This is not the first time British Airways has tried to motivate pilots to save fuel through performance-based incentives. As early as 2006, British Airways had set up a “Fuel-Saving Pilots Leaderboard,” with the evaluation criteria being that the less fuel the pilots carry at takeoff to complete the flight, the higher their ranking. However, this approach had raised concerns among some pilots, who believed it could jeopardize passenger safety. (CCTV Finance)
