Intense firefight! Details of U.S. military rescue of pilot revealed
According to a report by the U.S. news outlet Axios on April 5, three U.S. officials said that the U.S. Special Forces have rescued the second pilot from an F-15 fighter jet that was shot down over Iran.
One of the officials said the pilot is a weapons systems operator. After ejecting on the 3rd to escape, he was injured but was still able to walk. Over the next day and more, the pilot evaded the manhunt in mountainous terrain.
The official said the rescue operation on the 4th was carried out by a special assault team and was supported by extensive air cover. The U.S. military carried out intense firepower strikes, and all units have now withdrawn from Iran.
Also, according to Qatar’s Al Jazeera, a U.S. government source said that during the rescue operation there was fierce fighting and exchanges of fire.
U.S. President Trump said on the 4th that the U.S. military had rescued the second pilot on the shot-down F-15E fighter jet in Iran.
In a post on social media, Trump said that over the past few hours, the U.S. military carried out “one of the boldest search-and-rescue operations in U.S. history,” and found the second pilot. The pilot “is safe and unharmed.”
Trump said the U.S. military had been monitoring the pilot’s location and “carefully planned the rescue operation.” Following his order, the U.S. military deployed dozens of “planes and helicopters carrying the world’s most deadly weapons” to carry out the rescue. “He (the pilot) was injured, but he will recover.”
Trump also confirmed that the first pilot on the shot-down F-15E fighter jet has been rescued. The reason it had not been confirmed earlier was that they did not want to jeopardize the second rescue operation.
Trump further claimed that there were no casualties among Americans in the two rescue operations.
