Advice for Ordinary Children

I. Reproductive and Family Planning

1. Birth Strategy: If you plan to have children, try to have only one next generation. Families with only children for two generations will face much less pressure and burden.
2. Retirement and Golden Years: Based on current marriage age, medical insurance and pensions can generally cover major illnesses. Only children mainly face retirement pressure. During parents' old age, there will be a 15-year golden period: you and your wife around 48 years old, children and spouse around 24 years old, all four in earning stages. If each person earns an average of 4,000 yuan per month, the family disposable income is 16,000 yuan, with annual savings of 60,000 yuan. Over 15 years, this adds up to 900,000 yuan, plus property and retirement funds, laying a good foundation for future generations.

II. Entrepreneurship and Asset Concepts

1. Entrepreneurship Advice: Avoid starting with large capital or loans. Choose low-cost businesses like small-scale catering (10,000 to 80,000 yuan). The current economy has entered an asset stock era; industries like pig farming and farming also require large-scale operations to be profitable.
2. Household Registration and Land: Do not recommend migrating to rural household registration. Rural land is a "capital-preserving" fallback for the family. Urban living costs are high, but 2 acres of rural land can ensure basic living needs, providing a family with a base to return to in difficult times.
3. Asset Awareness: Banknotes represent national credit. During international fluctuations, gold is a more stable asset. With increasing economic pressure in the future, ordinary people should pursue low-cost, stable development paths and avoid blindly chasing quick wealth.

III. Academic and Career Choices

1. Major Selection:
- Priority: National defense universities, an effective way to climb the social ladder;
- Second choice: Engineering and livelihood-related majors (such as firefighting, nuclear power, veterinary medicine, breeding), which offer a "50% return for 100% effort," suitable for those willing to endure hardship;
- Lastly: Trendy majors like new energy, which can ensure basic employment.
- The first two categories are best pursued with a master's degree as a minimum; trendy majors can be employed with a bachelor's degree.
2. Pitfall Warnings: Avoid majors in liberal arts, public security, law, and other highly competitive fields that emphasize background; medical studies are not recommended (require 11 years of further education, which is stressful for ordinary families, except for dentists).
3. Military Path: After being admitted to a regular university, you can join the military in your first year, complete your studies after discharge, then re-enlist directly as an officer. Military service counts as part of your age, and 2 years of compulsory service can earn nearly 200,000 yuan and waive tuition. Re-enlisting can bring a monthly salary of about 7,000 yuan, saving 450,000 yuan over 5 years. The third-term discharge settlement fee is about 600,000 to 700,000 yuan. With family savings, by age 29, you can establish a good life in third- or fourth-tier cities. (This advice is suitable for families in poverty or willing to endure hardship; single-child families should consider carefully.)
