Nine skiers dead in avalanche in California, USA

On February 19th local time, it was reported that a deadly avalanche in the Nevada Mountains of Northern California this week has resulted in nine deaths, with the identities of six victims confirmed. An avalanche occurred on Castle Peak in the Nevada Mountains of Northern California on the morning of February 17th. A backcountry skiing team of 15 people had nine missing in the avalanche, with six others rescued. Castle Peak, at an elevation of 2,775 meters, is a popular spot among backcountry skiers in the Nevada Mountains. At the time of the incident, the area was under a severe storm and a “high-level” avalanche warning. The investigation is still ongoing. (CCTV News)
