Harmony's goal is to build a blockchain based on fragmentation, with full scalability and security. It has studied many blockchain solutions in the market and put forward its own project implementation scheme. This is also where harmony deserves our attention. This is a high goal. First of all, it has full scalability. Harmony sharding includes not only transaction confirmation, network communication, but also blockchain status sharding. Secondly, the security of segmentation should be ensured. Harmony's sharding is based on DRG (distributed random generation) process, which makes it unpredictable, fair, verifiable and scalable. In addition, harmony uses the POS mechanism instead of the pow mechanism to select the verifier. It has its own optimization of the pbft consensus mechanism. POS has a certain threshold, which not only ensures that small equity Pledgors can participate in the network and earn income, but also prevents malicious attackers from gaining control in a single partition. Harmony uses adaptive information diffusion algorithm to realize the information transmission within and across the partition network. Harmony also uses kademlia routing to realize cross partition transactions, which expand logarithmically with the increase of the number of partitions. With sharding, the consistency of cross shard transactions must be maintained. Harmony also supports cross shard transactions, supports direct communication between shards, and ensures the consistency of cross shard transactions through the atomic locking mechanism. In general, harmony tries to provide an extensible, secure and decentralized blockchain by optimizing the protocol layer and network layer, which can support more mainstream decentralized application scenarios, including games, decentralized exchanges, IOT, etc. This is an ambitious vision.
