Officials of the Near East Relief criticized attempts to restrict the operation of the organization through legislative means.

On October 12th, Jinshi Data News reported that on October 11th local time, Philip Lazareni, the Commissioner for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for the Near East, stated through his social media account that the Israeli Parliament is now ready to pass legislation to terminate the operations of the UN Relief and Works Agency for the Near East. This legislation attempts to prohibit the presence and operations of the agency on Israeli territory, and revoke its privileges and exemptions. Lazareni stated that this action violates international law and will have very serious consequences if the bill is passed.
