CoinWorld News reports that during the second week of Elon Musk's lawsuit against OpenAI, Brockman disclosed on May 5th that when Musk stepped down from OpenAI's board in 2018, he stated that he would push AI at Tesla "without spending time on safety," with the primary goal of catching up to Google DeepMind. He also mentioned, "If the sheep set safety rules and the wolves are unrestrained, then nothing makes sense." However, the core reason Musk sued OpenAI is precisely because the company abandoned its safety mission. Additionally, Brockman revealed that Musk had asked several OpenAI employees to work unpaid for months on Tesla's autonomous driving team to help overhaul its technical solutions. Musk emphasized during the court appearance that he had invested significant time and resources into OpenAI, but did not mention this period of reverse conscription.
